Over the last couple of years, SpaceX have been rapidly building and testing their Starship prototypes. But in order to get the most out of each test, SpaceX had to buy and hire a robotic dog from Boston Dynamics. This video looks at how SpaceX are using their robotic dog and how similar robotic creatures could be used when we send the first humans to Mars.

If SpaceX officially bought the dog instead of sponcer usage, the media never claimed, nor is there a SpaceX logo on it, More multi form rebotics like this will be needed as the first attempt stage for colonizing humans, as setup, repairs and building infitructures like a primary required biosphere, including security, any lurking sky obstical or UFO, won't go away by just barking at.

Its Spacex. The dog costs 75k. If data is so important why buy 1 dog ? Get 4 or 5 to have a 360 view of data etc. I dont understand why not

Dude buying spot was kind of a joke, they could've had as much drones as they wanted not only that but spot would be useless when there'll be humans on mars

This is a great use for the Boston Dynamics dog. I can imagine it may be good for mining and chemical plant operations as well, but not for imaginary police situations. Shame on police departments who have bought these dogs for that purpose.

i think to get to mars you need enough fuel and enough space aboard for humans to move and not go mad. The easiest way to get to mars would be a space station of sorts not what space x is building. it'll be useful as a spacecraft but we need a lot of supplies to get there with humans on board
now i need a colony of spots

SpaceX could send those and Atlas robots to Mars first, where they could work semi-autonomously perhaps, still some years until they go to Mars, perhaps AI will improve. They could be kinda pre-programmed to put together the habitat on Mars and factory for creating fuel for humans to get back later. Could perhaps also be a good way to test artificial intelligence, how it copes independently of humans, some companies could send various robots of their own to explore Mars and their robot AI capabilities. As author said, there will be a need of a lot of robot work and AI involved to set up everything for human visit there. Another possibility if it turns out that humans can't live on Mars, we could set up a robot civilization there, also to test AI and mine resources for us etc. It would be very interesting, if we had more advanced AI, to see how robots would independently organize themselves on the planet, what kind of habitats they could build, would there be something like religion or not, etc.?

These robots are impressive but why do we need them, Elon? I'm sure it took a lot of resources to develope them. Human labor but also rare materials from the planet, plenty of water. A lot of waste is probably being created along the way and it's gonna be a lot more when this gets into mass-production. I just would like to understand for what we need them? Maybe to send them to areas hostile to life like other planets or antarctica to explore the very last inches of our planet, which would only result more pollution. Or we send armed robots to battlefields which would lead to more killings. But I am not just here to critizes. I want to understand the bigger picture behind this. What is the reason we invest so much energy and resources into this? Why is it worth all that? What do we need them for, Elon? Thank you!!!

Don’t worry about Musk. He’s just playing IRL Surviving Mars. If you don’t know, surviving mars is a management game where you build a colony on mars by first sending drones to set up a colony before sending humans.

In order to colonize and live on Mars or on the mon, we need a variety of robots to do different jobs in the interior and exterior environments where humans cannot do by themselves. So, we need to train more young engineers and scientists to specialize this field to help speed up the progress as space colonization becomes affordable and achievable.

Why just one? I feel like it would be more efficient in the long run to have 4. They could cover just their designated areas (N, S, E, W), and save on battery use. With something as complicated as these rockets and engines can be, I think it would be better to cover more points of failure than just 1 moving camera.
